Role Purpose
The Senior System Analyst (SSA) reports to the IT manager and is responsible for bridging business requirements and technical implementation while leading projects from initiation to deployment. Beyond system analysis and design, the SSA takes ownership of end-to-end project management, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives. For small-scale system enhancements, the SSA will directly perform requirement gathering, coding, and testing. This role demands both strategic oversight and hands-on technical execution, ensuring solutions—whether internal or vendor-delivered—adhere to Aspial’s architecture, standards, and system integrity.
Key Responsibilities1. Requirements Analysis & Technical TranslationLead requirement gathering sessions for small-scale enhancements.Interpret Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) prepared by Business Analysts.Convert FSDs into Technical Specification Documents (TSDs), including logic flows, data mappings, interface specifications, and system rules.Clarify system constraints, dependencies, and edge cases with stakeholders.
2. Project Management & DeliveryManage small to medium size end-to-end project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closureDefine project scope, timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.Coordinate cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure project milestones are met.Track risks, issues, and dependencies, providing timely resolutions and updates to management.
3. System Design & Architecture SupportCollaborate with Solution Architects to align designs with Aspial’s architecture and integration standards.Document system behavior using ERDs, sequence diagrams, flow charts, and data flow diagrams.Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
4. Development & Hands-On CodingFor small-scale enhancements, act as both analyst and developer.Write and maintain code for system enhancements, integrations, or fixes.Conduct unit, API, and integration testing.Ensure code quality meets Aspial’s standards for structure, naming conventions, and security.
5. Vendor Coordination & GovernanceCollaborate with external vendors during development.Review vendor TSDs, designs, and outputs for compliance with Aspial’s system structure.Validate vendor code, API formats, database changes, and deployment packages.Ensure vendor adherence to documentation, testing, and environment standards.
6. Documentation OwnershipPrepare and maintain:Technical Specification Documents (TSDs)API specifications and integration mappingsChange logs and configuration notesDeployment instructions and SR referencesEnsure all documents are complete, audit-ready, and stored in the prescribed repository.
7. Deployment & ImplementationOversee pre-live checks, release packaging, environment readiness, and data validation.Provide technical and project support during go-live and post-deployment.
8. User & Support EnablementPrepare training materials and conduct technical walkthroughs for support teams.Assist with troubleshooting escalated issues, ensuring fixes are documented.
Requirement
Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.Min 3 years of experience as a System Analyst, Application Analyst, or Developer, with proven project management exposure.Strong foundation in:SQL & NoSQL databasesProgramming logic and APIsSystem architecture conceptsCloud fundamentalsSkilled in writing TSDs, interpreting FSDs, and managing projects end-to-end.Preferred:Experience in retail, payments, POS, or enterprise systems.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and cloud platforms.Vendor management and project leadership experience.
